Your new role
As a Project Advisor at Pelago Bioscience, you act as an expert playing a critical role in structuring, guiding, and supporting projects for our customers. Leveraging extensive knowledge of the drug discovery and development value chain, life science products, industry trends, and project management methodologies, you act as a strategic partner to our customers, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions that drive tangible business outcomes. You are the go-to project manager, playing a critical role in defining, structuring, planning, and executing complex internal service projects at Pelago Bioscience.
The role requires strong leadership skills and a proactive approach, building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, influencing the direction of our products andservices based on customer insights and industry expertise.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Participate and lead customer meetings, working closely with Sales teammates to establish customer expectations and advise customers on projects
- Prepare and develop project proposals
- Collaborate internally to design tailored solutions based on customer goals
- Guide potential customers to maximize customer value
- Lead marketing activities: Developing application notes or representing Pelago Bioscience at international scientific conferences, and at such, drive lead generation by presenting, targeting key customers, interacting with key opinion leaders, and expanding the contact base within accounts
- Drive collaboration and develop business with licence holders and key accounts
- Serve as trusted advisor and provide expert guidance
- Support the end-to-end project management process, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and milestones are met.
- Proactively handling challenges or escalated issues, working closely with relevant teams to find effective solutions
- Act as project manager for internal projects
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and knowledge-sharing to the team
- Stay updated with the latest trends, innovations, and regulatory changes in the industry

We are seeking a results-driven individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and time-management abilities, and the capacity to work independently with confidence and respect. You should be a team player who can contribute positively to teamwork and demonstrate leadership in mentorship and team development. With a background in drug discovery and project management, you will use your business acumen to align project outcomes with customer goals, build relationships, and stay engaged with all aspects of Drug Discovery.
This role offers the chance to be involved throughout the customer journey and to impact growth within a collaborative team of sales professionals and scientists. Ideally, you reside on the West Coast of the United States (preferably in the San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Francisco areas) and have experience working in biotech/pharma companies. Other Western US locations may also be considered.
Requirements
- MS or PhD degree in a life science-related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience within drug discovery (Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biophysics, Medicinal Chemistry or Translational Science focus)
- Background (or strong understanding) in preclinical drug discovery
- Experience managing project teams and overseeing operations, driving results and fostering collaboration
- Experience building strong customer relations, and consulting within the life science industry
- Ability to manage project updates and progression in CRM (Salesforce, Hubspot, etc.) and work independently using Microsoft Office product suite
- Strong understanding of commercial team ecosystem and matrixed working environments with a service first, growth mindset
Important
- Excellent understanding of the drug discovery value chain from target validation to clinical drug candidate (and beyond) and ability to apply this knowledge to multiple projects
- Ability to lead several projects simultaneously
